Moving On
I’ve been averaging two hours of writing the last couple of days (WAHOO!!). At the end of the night, when I close the document, my word count has gone up by…fifty words?!?!
I’ve been tweaking and tweaking the beginning of my new WIP, but I’m not really getting anywhere. I’m not happy with the changes I’ve made at all. So today, I’m reverting to the original five chapters and moving on.
Sometimes writing The End is the only way to know the beginning.
Anyone else ever experienced that?

Absolutely! A new WIP like a bubblebath. If it’s too hot or too cold, you can’t get into it. 🙂

And does anyone know why I can reply to comments from my phone, but not on my own blog. It’s weird and I DO NOT like it.

I agree. The beginning can drive you crazy. I like to use whatever and just move on and write the rest. No matter what I write, I’ll end up changing it a million times anyway.

@Sharon: I have to keep saying to myself, ”Relax. It’s a first draft.” Relaxing…yeah, I’m not so good at that.

I’m having the opposite problem. I feel my ms started really strong and is suffering as I near the end and I run out of steam. It was so much easier at the very beginning when the idea was bright and shiny. Now I’m just trying to smooth awkward prose and finish the darn thing!

I still count that as good progress! Sometimes it takes doing something that doesn’t work to find what does. Both are totally valuable!
